Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

New Patient Exam (chiropractic adjustment) vs. Initial Consultation (functional medicine): What does the first visit look like?

-          Both visits include a detailed follow up of your health history. If you can be as detailed in the intake form, the better. Dr. Sabra will cover all aspects of your health concerns, and this first visit can sometimes last 1-1½ hours in length. Both visits also include vitals and depending on the area of complaint there will be orthopedic exams or other exams performed to determine more about the area of complaint. Typically, if it is a new patient exam for a chiropractic adjustment, then the first adjustment is included in that first visit (unless x-rays or other imaging is needed prior to treatment). Dr. Sabra will also do any soft tissue treatment that is needed and cover some basic stretches/exercises that you can complete at home to help make your office treatments as effective as possible. For patients wanting to cover a functional medicine topic, Dr. Sabra will go over any next steps needed to give you the care plan that best fits your needs. This also includes a personalized list of any basic or in-depth lab tests needed.

Lab testing: How much will it cost and what is the procedure?

-          All lab testing is individually priced to make it as inexpensive as possible. Dr. Sabra will only recommend testing that is specific for each patient and their circumstances. Individual lab testing varies from $8-$30 for most basic labs, while in depth panels can range from $100-$400. Payment can be broken down into installments if needed, and Dr. Sabra can accept HAS/FSA cards for payment as well. Dr. Sabra runs most basic labs through Quest Diagnostics. Dr. Sabra can either perform the blood draw in the office when needed, or patients can go to a Quest patient service center nearest them to get their blood drawn.  Payment is made through Dr. Sabra’s office where pricing for labs are at a discounted rate, compared to patient direct payment, and many times lower then what you may end up paying through insurance.

Does Renew Chiropractic take insurance?

-          The short answer is no. The main reason for this is we get a better rate for cash-based labs compared to running labs through insurance. For most patients, insurance will not cover much, if any labs. When someone has met their deductible and labs are then covered under insurance (or if they have really great insurance that covers labs, which is rare), Dr. Sabra is always willing to write a referral letter to your in-network PCP to order the labs for you. Dr. Sabra is also always willing to give you a superbill for any visits to turn into insurance for possible reimbursement or to go towards your deductible. HSA/FSA cards can be used for all visits and labs for payment.
